A New Brand of Summer Blockbuster

Just when you think computer games are dead, you might want to think again. Sure, your kids might be talking about this summer’s blockbuster movie sequels like The Dark Knight Rises and The Bourne Legacy, but they might not know of the new Blizzard sequel: Diablo III.
The long-awaited third installment of Blizzard Entertainment’s fire-and-brimstone role-playing game lands May 15, and gamers everywhere are clearing their schedules for the ensuing days (maybe even weeks!) of intense gaming.
Here’s a rundown of the plot, according to Blizzard: “Twenty years have passed since the Prime Evils were defeated and banished from the world of Sanctuary. Now, you must return to where it all began – the town of Tristram – and investigate rumors of a fallen star, for this is the first sign of evil’s rebirth, and an omen that the End Times have begun.” If this makes sense and sounds awesome, get ready: Diablo III is coming soon.
Diablo has always been a twisted, dark interpretation on a classic theme – the battle between good and evil – set in a world of people who somehow persevere in the face of chaos and sadness. In Diablo III, Blizzard is taking this story to new heights (and depths), and exploring parts of Sanctuary they have only hinted at in the past.
My son has already informed me that he will be in hibernation for several days—I’ll just make sure the refrigerator is stocked up by Tuesday. I guess I will be cutting the grass…
How about you? Are you ready for Diablo III? Let me know in the comments.
